George was the son of John (1673-1726)and Mary Smith Hiett/Hiatt (1677 -aft 1745) emigrated to Bucks Co, Pa from England, and were buried in Bucks Co. Their son and his wife, George and Martha Wakefield Hiatt moved from Bucks Co to Guilford Co, NC.

The New Garden MM reported 1754, 11, 30, George (Hyatt) rocf Fairfax, held at Menoquesy, VA, dated 1754, 9, 28. The 25th day of ye 5th mo. 1754 the Perquiamans and Little River Quarterly Meeting held a meeting at Old Neck in the County of Perquimans. Friends at New Garden requested this meeting to grant them the privilege of holding a MM amongst them by Reason of the hardship they underwent in Attending the monthly meeting at Cane Creek.

From The Encyclopedia of Quaker Genealogy, NC, Vol. 2 - Cane Creek Meeting was located on the Tiger River, in Union County in the west-central part of SC. A meeting for worship was authorized by Quarterly Meeting held at Cane Creek, North Carolina, in 11th month 1775. A meeting had been established at Padgets Creek, in the same county in 1774. These two meetings were attached to Bush River Monthly Meeting until 1789, when Cane Creek Monthly Meeting was established by action of New Garden Quarterly Meeting, with preparative meetings at Cane Creek and Padgets Creek. The first sitting of the Cane MM was held the 21st of 11 month, 1789. The committee appointed by the Quarterly Meeting to attend the opening, included John Sanders, William Stanley, Joseph Hiatt, Tristram Barnard, Barnabas Coffin and James Thornburgh. Beginning in 1803, the migration to the northwest began. When the people of Cane Creek Monthly Meeting removed to Ohio they took the records with them. The book of records of births and deaths was continued in use by Caesars Creek Monthly Meeting, Ohio, and remains in the possession of that meeting to this day. Caesar Creek MM was largely made up of former members of Cane Creek MM, SC. The books containing the marriage records and the minutes of the women's meeting were returned to North Carolina Yearly Meeting after more than 100 years. The book of minutes of the men's meeting has not been found.

While no Hiatts were found in the limited Cane Creek MM records in this periodical, Joseph Hiatt attended the opening meeting and a Lydia Hiatt is recorded as attending the first women's meeting. The grandchildren of George and Martha Hiatt are known to have immigrated to Clinton County, Ohio.

The New Garden MM gives a date of death for George Hiatt as 10-28-1793. The children of George and Martha Wakefield Hiatt are listed as:
Mary b. 4-28-1726 O.S.
John b. 12-19-1729
Esther b. 2-1-1731
Ann b. 12-2-1733
Ruth b. 4-1-1735
Christopher b. 10-22-1737
Ursula b. 12-22-1740
William b. 7-1-1742
Elizabeth b. 11-22-1745
Lydia b. 3-22-1747
Joseph b. 4-3-1753
Perhaps this is the Joseph Hiatt and Lydia Hiatt mentioned in the Cane Creek MM original meeting.
