LUELLA ANN ESHLEMAN

Luella Ann Eshleman was born to Sam and Matilda (McMinn) Scott on December 11,1937, in Hardtner, KanSAS, and passed December 13, 2015, at the age of 78 years and two days.
The youngest of seven children, Ann attended the Hardtner Public Schools and graduated in 1955.
In 1956, Ann married Oscar (Otch) Eshleman. Four sons blessed their home in Hardtner. In 1972, the family moved to Wichita, and later Ann and Otch moved to Olathe, Kansas. After Otch's retirement, they returned to Hardtner.
Ann's spirit of fun and her love for children were evident when she managed the toy department at McLeod's Department Store in Wichita. She often knelt down to visit with children at their eye level while sharing the latest toy or game. She delighted parents, children and employees when she rode the store's Big Wheels demo through the aisles. Ann knew and appreciated the value of children's laughter.
Nieces and nephews – several claiming to be her favorite – found laughter, encouragement, hot coffee and delicious food at Aunt Annie's dining room table. She nourished both body and soul.
Ann was an avid reader, and loved the English language. She easily completed crossword puzzles and word games, always in ink. Her sharp wit was constant.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Jube, Tite and Don; and sisters Iris Snead, Avis Allen and Dixie Grant. She is survived by her husband, Otch, of the home; sons Kenny and Willie (Sophie) of Wichita; Kelly and Kerry of Olathe, Kansas; grandsons Samuel of Hardtner, Lyndon of Olathe, and Aaron of Wichita; granddaughters Rebecca (Chris) Price of Garnett, Kansas, and Jessica (Chris) Laughlin of Lane, Kansas; four great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and many friends.
Graveside services at the Hardtner Cemetery are being planned for the spring. A memorial has been established in Ann's name at the Hardtner Public Library, P.O. Box 38, Hardtner, Kansas.
