Gus was an avid quail hunter and belonged to the Thomasville Gun Club and Thomasville Baseball Club.
Death occurred at the Augusta home of Rev. and Mrs. G. Sherwood Whitney, Gustave's sister. He had been for a number of years in very bad health caused by a paralytic stroke and was confined to a rolling chair. The body accompanied home by his brother, John.
