Vivian C. Schuelke was born December 7, 1920 on the family farm north of Jefferson, Oklahoma, daughter of Daniel Joseph and Minnie Viola (Archer) Boruff. She attended grade 1 through 12 at Jefferson School.
On January 11, 1939, Vivian was united in marriage with Gail B. Schuelke in Enid, Oklahoma. This union was blessed with three children: Patricia Gail, James Lee and Paul Daniel. They made their home on a farm west of Wakita where they enjoyed 59 years of marriage.
Vivian loved life on the farm. Being a homemaker she enjoyed crocheting and sewing. She also liked reading and puzzles. Most of all she loved being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Vivian was a member of the Goodwill Home Extension Club which started in October 1948. She remained an active member until her death and was the last of the charter members. She served in all officer positions. She was also a member of the United Methodist Church and was active in the UMW and served as an officer on the local and district levels. She was also involved with many other church and school related organizations.
On December 30, 2015, Vivian passed away at the Community Health Center in Wakita, Oklahoma at the age of 95 years and 23 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Minnie Boruff; husband, Gail on January 28, 1998; son, Jim; grandson, J. Stanley Ransom III; brothers: Harvey, Joe and John Welsey Boruff; and sisters: Leona White and Evelyn Buffalo.
Vivian will be deeply missed by her children: Patricia Castillo and husband, Ruben and Paul Schuelke and wife, Eda; sister, Betty Delay; 7 grandchildren: Bryan Ransom and wife, Tina, Scott Schuelke and wife, Jonna, Krista Clover and husband, Michael, Jeff Schuelke and wife, Tara, Daisy Warren and husband, Jason and Alyssa Schuelke; several great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 4, 2016 at the United Methodist Church in Wakita, OK with Reverend Lisa Anderson and Reverend Les Bussell officiating. Burial will follow in Wakita Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Community Health Center or the United Methodist Church and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
