Harriett C. Rubin passed away on June 17, 2006 after a long illness.

Born January 3, 1934, the daughter of Ernest and Flocie Childress of South Charleston.

She graduated from South Charleston High School in 1951 and was a graduate of Mason College of Music. She was a bookkeeper and retired from Bob’s Exxon. Harriett was an active member of the Davis Creek Church of the Nazarene where she was recently recognized as one of the longest serving members. Her ministry included women’s ministries, Sunday school teacher, mother and daughter banquet and NYI President. The Church of the Nazarene awarded her with the Distinguished Service Award. She served as church organist for 44 years, providing music for countless weddings and other special occasions. Harriett always responded when friends and family needed emotional or spiritual support in times of illness or loss. She was active as a Scout Leaders wife for troop 57. She developed a close bond with the scout leaders wives and enjoyed many outings with this close group of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Flocie Childress, sisters, Margaret Martini and Addie Jo Snyder.

Friends may call Tuesday, June 20, 2006 from 6 to 8 PM at the Davis Creek Church of the Nazarene with services being held at 8:00 PM at the church.

A family graveside service will be held at Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston, on Wednesday. Curry Funeral Home, Alum Creek, is in care of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Kanawha Hospice Care of Dunbar.
