Jewel Dean Agee Hackworth Britton, 84, of Lexington, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at the UK Chandler Medical Center. She was born in Madison County on September 23, 1930, the daughter of the late Hugh G. and Elizabeth Scott Agee.
Jewel earned an associate degree from the University of Kentucky. She retired as a manager at IBM and was a member of Mt. Eden Christian Church.
She was an avid reader, loved to sew and travel with her sister, Betty Brewer, who preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband, Barry Britton; her daughter, Yvonne Hackworth; her son: Terry Hackworth, all of Lexington ; two grandchildren, Kinsey Hackworth and Hayden Hackworth; her nephew Mike Brewer (Sharon); her aunt, Mary Scott, her stepdaughters, Pam Kyler, Kaye Wine (Steve) and Beverly Dodds (Jim), several stepgrandchildren and a special family friend, Jeanette Reynolds.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, January 25, 2015 at Combs, Parsons, Collins Funeral Home, 328 West Main St., Richmond, officiated by John Lee Dundon
