Graveside services for Mrs. Peggy Williams Duke, 78, of Hazlehurst, who died May 5 [2004] in Jeff Davis Hospital, were held May 7 in Palms Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Dewain Joiner officiated.
Mrs. Duke was a native of Telfair County and had resided in Jeff Davis County most of her life. She was of the Church of God Faith and was the former owner of the Cherokee Restaurant in Hazlehurst. She was the daughter of the late Gary and Mattie Heath Williams, and the widow of Tora Duke.
Survivors include a daughter, Janie Mae Paczay of Ontario, Canada; a brother, J.D. Williams of Jesup; a sister, Louise Spires of Bazley; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home was in charge.
