ROCK CREEK — Macie E. Batiste, age 95, Hayford Road, Rock Creek, died Tuesday morning, Dec. 29, 2015, at her residence.
She was born April 2, 1920, in Monongah, W.Va., the daughter of Samuel and Daisy (Cline) Santee and had lived in this area since 1982, moving from Mannington, W.Va. to Andover. She was married to Patsie Batiste on April 16, 1938, in Monongah, W.Va.
Mrs. Batiste attended Our Lady of Victory Church in Andover. She was a former member of the Methodist Church in West Virginia. She enjoyed quilting and reading the Bible.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia A. (Don) Commodore of Rock Creek; five grandchildren, Julie (Mark) Leppert of Willowick, Scott (Denise) Debalski of Leroy Township, Christy (Bill) Poskarbiewicz of Euclid, Kimberly (Dennis) Smoley of Chardon and Michael (Debbie) Batiste of Kirtland; nine great-grandchildren, Nicole (Tiffany) Ashworth, Danielle Leppert, Greg (Olivia), Michael and Steven Debalski, Macie and Cole Poskarbiewicz and Brandon (Jackie) and Nicholas Smoley; and five great-great-grandchildren, Rhys, Zachary, Landon, Tobin and Caden.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Patsie in 2013; son, Michael Lee Batiste in 1981; four brothers, Walter, Lindy, Charles and Marvin Santee; two brothers in infancy; and a sister, Loleta Shreve.
The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated 11 a.m., Saturday, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 3409 N. Main St., Rock Creek, with the Rev. Fr. John Madden officiating. Private burial will be in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery with her husband, Patsie.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday, at the Church.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 1166 Lake Ave., Ashtabula, Ohio 44004.
