Captured by the Japanese in Bandung, West Java on 8 March 1942 he died of acute enteritis in POW Camp at Tha Khanun Village, Thong Pha Phum County, Kanchanaburi Prefecture, Thailand. He was originally buried in Tha Khanun cemetery.

Son of Gijsbertus de Wildt (1881- ) and Willemina Grietha de Jong (1887- ).
