James Robert Bumgarner was the son of Aaron Bumgarner and Elizabeth Mauney. He married Martha Adeline Whitener Jan. 29, 1881 in Catawba Co. James and Martha had 3 daughters; Sallie Lula Etta, Mary Bell, and Pearl Evelyn Bumgarner.
