Ruby Elizabeth Burks Jeter, age 95, formerly of Monticello, died May 15, 2017, in Nashville, TN. Born May 28, 1921 to Winnie (Gober) and Guy Burks, she was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John W. Jeter; grandson, Jason Jeter; and brothers Charlie, Carl, J.W. and Clifford; and sisters Myrtle, Jane and Coty.

She was a dedicated and loyal friend to everyone, bringing laughter into each life she touched. Born with a servant’s heart, she shared her time and talents with those in need whether it was providing food, prayer or companionship. A life-time member of the Monticello Church of Christ, she was also active in the Study and Garden Clubs, serving as President of both. Later years were spent as an archivist at the Drew County Historical Society.

She is survived by her sons John (Peggy Wallick Jeter) of Nashville, TN, and Allen (Carla Allison Jeter) of Crossett, AR; sister Guylene Simmons of Lewes, DE; grandchildren Pam Hunter (Ben), Brandon Jeter (Ashley) and Allyson Wallace (Michael); seven great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation with the family will be held at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home on June 14 2017 at 10:00 a.m. with services to follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will followed at Union Ridge Cemetery.
