Thomas L. Vannaman (Tom), 81 years old of Midland, Texas, passed away on November 26, 2015. Tom was born in Ft. Worth, Texas on July 18, 1934 to George and Ellen Vannaman. He graduated from Midland High School and continued on to receive a business degree from The University of Texas, a MS in Hotel, Motel, Restaurant management from Michigan State University, and an A.B.D. from George Washington State University in Industrial Management. Tom was married to Martha Stone on June 9, 1956; they were married for 59.5 years. Tom was a Commander in the Naval Supply Corp officer for 22 years. After he retired, he became an instructor at Midland College teaching business course for another 20 years. He enjoyed his computer, reading, teaching concealed handgun classes, but his four-footed friends, Gracie, Ziggy, and Tasha were a great delight to him. He was also involved in the Masons here in Midland. Tom is preceded in death by his father George and mother Ellen. Tom is survived by his wife, Martha; his children, Valerie, Tom Jr. and spouse Tammy, and Tim and spouse Renae Vannaman. His grandchildren include Kimberley, Alyssa, Thomas, Olga, and Josh Vannaman. In addition, Tom is survived by his sister Ann Wemple, her husband Fred, his niece Janie G. Sims, and nephew Edward Griswold. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Ellis Funeral Home. The graveside service will be on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Resthaven Memorial Park, with Kathryn Boren officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Lone Star Sanctuary for Animals, P.O. Box 50426, Midland, Texas 79710.
