He was born April 29, 1933 in Lexington to Carl and Golda (Downey) Hefner. He was married to Frances Evelyn (Folks) Hefner for 57 years. She preceded him in death last year. He graduated from Bloomington High School.
He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the U.S. Army. He worked for G.E. as a machinist and a set-up man. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Mechanical Union 10000, and G.E. Union.
He is survived by his son, Rickey W. Hefner; daughter, Mabel Denton; two granddaughters and two great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded by his son, Paul Hefner.
