Pocahontas- Ellen Gerlene Day, 86, passed away December 27, 2015.
Ellen was born on March 17, 1929 in Smithville, Arkansas to the late Robie and Loudie Boyer Ratliff.
She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Brenda McTague, grandson Derek Chilton, sister Olene Pacino, and brother James Ratliff.
She is survived by children: Robie Day of Pacific, MO, Linda Day of Geiser, LA; grandchildren: MaryEllen Chilton, Roland Siller, Patrick Chilton, Brandy Siears, Angela Pratt, Robert Day, Patrick Day, Dennis Day; great-grandchildren Kourtney Pratt, Brittany Day, Daniel Day, Joshua Chilton, Ian Chilton, Shae Guidry, Shelbi Siears, Damon Chilton, Lauren Chilton, Kendalyn Chilton, Ethan Chilton, Evyn Chilton, Brendan James Day, Breanna Siller, Dakota Siller; great-great-grandchildren Jaxon Guidry, Lyla Guidry; and brothers Dennis Ratliff and Eugene Ratliff.
She was a generous woman who gave heart and soul to family and Jesus. Family and faith were the driving forces in her life. As a single mother of 3 in the 1960's she did her best to raise them. She cared for multiple generations of her family including her parents, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Often she did this all at the same time. The multiple generations she leaves behind will remember her with love and affection.
She strongly reconnected with her faith in the 1980's. She taught Sunday School at Tower Grove Baptist Church in St. Louis for many years. She gave abundantly to Christian causes and missions. She can now do her good works directly by the Lord's side.
Visitation will be Saturday, January 2, 2016 from 12-2pm at McNabb Funeral Home with a funeral service following at 2pm. Brother Joshua Dement officiating. Burial will follow in Randolph Memorial Gardens.
