James Smith Lytle, 74, of 365 Alder Street died early this morning at his home after a short illness. He was born in Nova Scotia on August 23, 1879, and had lived in Eureka for the last 40 years.

He is survived by his wife, Grace; two sons, Bernard J. Lytle of Arcata; Gene Lytle of Newberg, New York; two daughters, Mrs. Leone Sieder of San Francisco; Mrs. Mabel Zilkaske of Portland, Oregon; a brother, Frank Lytle of Portland, Oregon; a sister, Betty Stockton of Escalon; 13 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Friends wishing to contribute may do so by contributing to the Heart Association fund. Contributions will be accepted at the office of the Cooper Mortuary.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. at Cooper Mortuary Chapel of the Ferns. Interment will follow at Ocean View Cemetery.
