John Creason Sumpter, Jr., 73, passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2015. A native of Louisville, he was the son of the late J.C. and Gertrude Gossman Sumpter. John was an IBM retiree, former auctioneer, a member of the Masonic Lodge, and a member of Woodford Christian Church. He enjoyed fishing, refinishing furniture, and antiques.
In addition to his wife, Mary Ruth Sumpter, he is survived by a daughter, LeAnne Nash, Versailles, a son, John Sumpter, III, Lexington, his sister Mary Jo James, Seymour, IN, and 3 grandchildren; Dylan Sumpter and Benjamin and Dennis Nash. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Woodford County, Kentucky.
