She was a member of the LDS Church and loved Relief Society. Doraleen worked at the Day and Night Cafe in Salina as a waitress for many years. She enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting. She was a people person and never met a stranger. She loved going for coffee at Mom's Cafe and visiting with all the customers there.
Doraleen was a hard worker and helped her husband, Don, in his excavating business, as his right-hand laborer.
Doraleen loved her family and her house, and hated to be away from her home. She was very proud of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her nine children: Ronald Lloyd and Janice Gates of Morgan; Kim Donald (Ruby, deceased) Gates of Salina; Gene William and Carolyn Gates of St. George; Scott Alvin and Penny Gates of Salina; John Randy and Sophia Gates of Lyman, Wyo; Dick Lynn and Janet Gates of Salina; Brett Clayton and Kaelynn Gates of Salina; Susan Doraleen Faris of Salina; Jeffrey Charles Gates of Salina; 50 grandchildren; 110 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandcihldren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law; and all 12 of her siblings.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 2, 2016 at 12 Noon in the Salina LDS Stake Center, 98 West 400 North in Salina, where friends may call for viewing Friday evening or Saturday morning prior to the services.
Burial will be in the Salina Eastside Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
