David Blake Williams, 83, of Moreland, passed away on December 24, 2015, peacefully in his sleep after a long, painful and chronic illness.

He was born January 17, 1932, at Moreland, Idaho, to David H. Williams and Norma J. Williams. He attended school at Snake River, graduating from Snake River High School.

On October 31, 1951, he married JoAnn Rasmussen at Winnemucca, Nevada. They had three sons, Steve, Brent and Rick. JoAnn preceded him in death on December 2, 2013. After the death of his wife, two years ago, his son Rick, his granddaughter, Hailee and Zach Billingsley, lived with and cared for him until his death. Many nurses came to his aid on a daily basis and he was most grateful for their care as well.

Blake was raised on the farm in Moreland, Idaho but later joined the workforce at the INL as a journeyman welder. He was a master craftsman with a welder’s rod, which talent later turned to painting and Silver-Smith jewelry making in retirement. He loved going south for the winters and golfing until his health no longer permitted. He made friends wherever he went and will be missed.

He is survived by three sons: Steven D. (Patrice) Williams, David Brent (Marva) Williams and Rick L. Williams and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. “Great is a man’s treasure -- his posterity.”

He was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn Rasmussen Williams; his parents, David H. and Norma J. Williams; two sisters, Patricia Demoss and Janis Hemming.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 2, 2016 at the Moreland LDS Chapel. The family will greet friends from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. prior to services at the church. Interment will follow at the Moreland Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Hawker Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent to: www.hawkerfuneralhome.com.
