History of Trempealeau County 1917 (Delbert G. Williams biographical sketch)
His parents were Prince Barnard and Mary (Atkins) Williams. The father, who was born in Maine in 1832, subsequently migrated to Kane County, Illinois, with his parents, Hezekiah Prince and Juliet Ulmer Williams, who died there. (Note Hez is buried in Cheboygan, Mich.)
Prince B. Williams then went to Michigan, where he resided for some years. In 1859 he came to Trempealeau County, Wisconsin, and purchased the land now constituting the Williams farm from the railroad company. Here he resided until his death, devoting his time and labor to the development and improvement of the farm. His residence was the first house built in Unity Township, and it was he who named the township, in honor of his old home in Maine. After a strenuous life, spent mostly in hard work, he passed away May 4, 1895.
His wife, Mary Atkins Williams, who was born in Maine, Jan. 14, 1830, died on the home farm May 4, 1906, having survived her husband just 11 years.
