ELLEN A. KING, age 92, of Gulf Hill Road, McLean, NY passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at the Cayuga Medical Center after becoming ill that day at home.
Mrs. King was born July 4, 1923 in Cortland, NY, a daughter of the late Benjamin and Irene Ninegar Adams.
She was graduated from Groton High School. Her husband, William S. King, Jr. passed away January 21, 2014. Ellen was a lifetime area resident and was retired from the New York State School of Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell University. She held many church offices and was a member of the McLean Community Church and a member of the former Fortnightly Club of Groton. She was a leader and Registrar for the Girl Scouts for many years and had been the Secretary of the McLean Fire District and the McLean Beautification Committee.
Survivors include her sons, William Scott King, III and Kevin (Lynn) King both of Cortland; her daughters, Andrea (Donald) Tomlinson of Buffalo, Kristen (Scott) Blackman of Freeville and Angela (Paul) Davis of Keene, NY; a sister, Shirley Switzer of Burdett; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by siblings, Albert and Harold Adams and Henrietta Kelley.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Sunday, December 27th at the McLean Community Church with Rev. David Carter officiating.
Burial will follow in McLean Rural Cemetery.
