OBITUARY

Died in New-Haven on the 28th ult., the widow Mary Hotchkiss, relict of Joshua Hotchkiss and daughter of Thomas Punderson, aged 83. In early life she made a public profession of her faith in Christ, and was at the time of her death the oldest member of the church under the care of the Rev. Mr. Merwin. She was the friend of the poor and solicitous for the spiritual welfare of those with whom she associated. Through a long course of years she adorned the doctrine of God her Saviour, and looked forward to the period of her departure with composure. She was the oldest member of the family whose united ages were mentioned in the Journal a few weeks since, amounting to 512.
Four sisters and two brothers survive her. Her descendants are numerous. She had 7 children, all of whom she often mentioned, settled in sight of the smoke of their father’s chimney; 5 survive her; 49 grand children, of whom 35 survive her, and 73 geat grand children, of whom 57 survive her. Total of her descendants living 97.
