(Read at the M.E. Church Monday during funeral services.)
Tabitha L. Parish was born at Carlisle, Ky., Sept. 5, 1837. On her 23d birthday she was united in marriage to Jacob Bixler. To this union five children were born, three sons and two daughters. A son and a daughter died in infancy leaving of the immediate family Messrs. Frank and Charles Bixler of Mitchell, Ind., and Mrs. Mary A. McCracken of Grandfield, Okla.
The family residence has been in Mitchell since 1865, all but five years of married life having been spent within a few steps of where we are now congregated.
Seventeen years ago yesterday, March 17, 1895, Mr. Bixler departed this life, leaving the wife of his youth and mature manhood to complete the journey alone.
Mrs. Bixler was a life-long Christian and has been ever since coming to Mitchell associated with the Methodist church at this place.
(This part of the obituary was not transcribed.)
During the night she was taken violently ill. The disease did its work quickly and at 3:30 oclock Saturday morning her happy spirit entered the portals of eternal bliss.
