Former longtime Rainier resident Mildred Cecilia Elliott, 87, passed away July 24, 2015, at her Longview home.

She was born Aug. 10, 1927, in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Louise (Nauahi) and Harry Bishop. The family moved to Goble, Ore., after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, and Mildred graduated from Rainier High School. She married Roy “Hop” Elliott Feb. 14, 1947. Mildred worked for Rainier Variety & Furniture for many years.

Survivors include four children, Doug (Cindy) in Kennewick, Jim (Jenny) and Mitch, both in Rainier and Jan in Chinook; two granddaughters, Jessica and Whitney, both in Rainier; and numerous nieces and nephews who called her “Aunty Cissy.”

Mildred was preceded in death by four siblings, John “Sonny” Basso, Robert “Aaron” Basso, Sylvan “Buzz” Bishop, Thomas "Tommy" Bishop and Fern (Basso) Matthews.

A graveside service is planned for 11 a.m. Thursday at Hudson Cemetery in Rainier. A luncheon will follow at the Rainier Eagles.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Community Home Health & Hospice.
