Mother Finds Son After 7 Years; Dies

Family Reunion Here Ends in Tragedy; Joy Breaks Heart

For seven long years, Mrs. Birdie Clark, 58, had sought ceaselessly throughout the length and breadth of the Nation for some word of her son, Guy O. Clark.

Success had finally crowned her efforts after a long series of disappointments and her son had been located in Oakland. She, her husband, Charles, and a daughter, Erna, 24, left the family home at Indianola, Okla., for what was to be the happy reunion.

"Oh son! It's been so long . . ." Then, as if overcome by joy, Mrs. Clark sat down.

A moment later, she was dead!

HEART GAVE OUT
Physicians at the Alameda County Emergency Hospital said her weakened heart had been unable to stand the excitement.

Today, husband and daughter •were accompanying the body back to Oklahoma. And there was sadness in the Guy Clark home.

It was m 1933 that Clark left Oklahoma. In the hustle and bustle of making a living, he had written only a few letters home: then none at all. His family lost track of him But his mother never gave up in her search for her son.

FINDS CLUE
She knew her boy had been the Navy and was a motion picture projector operator, friends said. She wrote to Naval Headquarters and to the projector operators union offices. Finally the clue that led to Oakland, came She wired to her son. He replied in haste, assuring her he was all right and urging her to visit him. He received a reply that the family would drive out here.

They arrived, unannounced, yesterday morning. Then death intervened.
