Alvin Edward Rumley, 85, of Plainfield, passed away December 19, 2015. He was born August 3, 1930 in Danville, IN to the late Ed and Flossie Rumley. He retired in 1988 after 34 years at Chrysler Corp. as a production control manager. Upon retirement, Al and his wife, Phyllis, started Century Quality Builders and built homes until 2001. He was a member of Plainfield Christian Church, Plainfield Elks Club # 2186 and Plainfield Masonic Lodge #653. Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 22, at 2:00 pm in Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, where friends may call from 11:00 am until service time. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Phyllis Rumley; son, Dan (Terry) Rumley; brother, Elmer Rumley; sister, Lois Fislar; grandchildren, Joshua (Erin) and Nicholas (Patience) Rumley, Jacob (Candy) and Ethan Caldwell. Al was preceded in death by his daughter, Diana Caldwell.
