Lilias Drummond, Fyvie Castle north of AberdeeN died there in 1601. It is believed she was starved to death by her husband in high tower, so that he might marry a young girl in the neighborhood. Whatever the truth, it is said that Lilias’s ghost carved her name on the stone window sill of her husband’s bedroom on the night that he took a new bride. It is written from the outside many stories high. The writing can still be seen. Lilias appears when time bodes ill for the owners of Fyvi
