Fannie Virginia Covington, 91, of Conway passed away at her son's home surrounded by her loving family on Friday, Aug. 16, 2002.

She was born Aug. 23, 1910, in Logan County. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Nona Moffet; her husband of 49 years, George W. Covington; five sisters and one brother; and a grandchild, Bobby Lewis Battles Jr.

She leaves behind three children, Virginia Battles, Mary Jane Moix and George E. Covington; her grandchildren, Cindy Houston, Richard Battles, Dr. Martin Moix, Michael Moix, and George Jr., Jason and Stephanie Covington; one great grandson and 10 great granddaughters; two sisters-in-law, Hetty Peel Moffet and Eileen Covington Hiegel; and her best and dearest friend, Pat Nutter.

She was a loving and devoted mother receiving her greatest pleasure being a grandmother and great-grandmother. She adored each and every member of her family and they her. She will be dearly missed!

Fannie attended the University of Central Arkansas and later taught school. She and her husband owned and operated Covington Roofing Company together until his death in 1983. She continued to work in the business until earlier this year.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Eastern Star and was Mother advisor of Rainbow Girls for several years.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Aug. 20, at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Conway with burial following at Crestlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Richard Battles, Dr. Martin Moix, George E. Covington Jr., Jason Covington, Michael Moix and Mike Houston. Honorary pallbearer is Eric Rusch.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 1610 Prince St., Conway, or to Arkansas Hospice, 1050 Bob Courtway Drive, Conway. Family will gather afterward at the home of George E. Covington, 4499 Prince St. Conway.
