From the Janesville Daily Gazette, 30 Sep 1918:

Mrs. John Whaley died at her home at 206 Park street, at seven-thirty this morning. mrs. Whaley was taken sick last Wednesday with blood poisoning. She was born June 22, 1896. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Rogers.

She leaves to mourn her death, her husband and two children, John and George, a father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Milton Rogers and three brothers, George, Elmer, and Henry of this city and one brother Clarence of Denver, Colorado.

Alydia Rogers was born at Lime Ridge, Sauk county on June 22, 1896. In the year 1904 she came to Janesville to live and ten years later was married to John Whaley of Indian Ford. Two children were born to them, John and George. Three brothers George, Elmer, Clarence and one sister, Helen, her parents Mr. and Mrs. Milton Rogers, and one uncle Peter Nichacker are left to mourn her loss. The deceased was a loyal member of the Christian church.

From the Wisconsin Tobacco Reporter, 4 Oct 1918:

A telephone message from Janesville Monday morning to Mr. and Mrs. Geo Whaley brought the sad news of the death of their son's wife, Mrs. Lyda Rogers Whaley. In her own family she leaves the husband, John Whaley, and two little boys. Her death came very suddenly from blood poisoning, caused by a small pimple on her face and by scratching with her fingernail the infection set in.
