Mary Magdalene Southall, 79, of Ripley, WV, passed away December 16, 2015, in Eldercare of Ripley, following an extended illness.
She was born October 6, 1936, in Charleston, WV, the daughter of the late Adam Harrison and Mary Alifair (Spencer) Shamblin.
Her husband, William Robert Southall; sons, Randall Ray Southall and David Lee Southall; brothers, Roy D., Orville, William “Willie,” James H., William “Jasper,” Virgil and Thaddeus Shamblin, and sisters, Barbara Newman, Belva Farmer, Evaline “Linie” Turley, and Gertrude Boggess also preceded her in death.
Mary was a former employee of the Alpine Restaurant and Theater in Ripley, and was a retired custodian from the Jackson County Board of Education. She enjoyed reading, children, baking, and spending time with her family. She was a longstanding member of the West Ripley Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Stephanie Casto (Kevin) of Ripley; sons, William Robert Southall (Lorrie) of Pine Drove, KY, and Timothy Wayne Southall (Lorenda) of Toledo, OH; grandchildren, James, Ian and Evan Southall; brother, Floyd C. Shamblin of Carrolton, KY, and sisters, Dotty Hayes (Frank) of Cottageville, Julia Wiggins and Delores “Jean” DeBerry both of Parkersburg.
Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, December 19, 2015, at Casto Funeral Home Chapel, Evans, WV, with the Rev. Jack Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Moriah Cemetery near Ripley.
