A memorial service for Betty Brown Blackwell, 78, of Camden, will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church. Reverend Sheila Rogers will officiate. The family will receive friends Monday, July 27, 2009 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Kornegay Funeral Home Camden Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Bethany House, PO Box 2441, Southern Pines, NC 28388.
Mrs. Blackwell died Friday, July 24, 2009. Born in Mooresville, NC, she was the widow of John Dozier Blackwell and the daughter of the late Cecil Brown and Mary Davidson Brown White. She was a member of Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church. Mrs. Blackwell was a well known musician.
She is survived by a daughter, Cynthia Blackwell Curtis of Southern Pines, NC; and a brother, Reid Vance Brown of Concord, NC. She was predeceased by a brother George Maxton Brown.
