Mr. Bernard died Tuesday in Nan Travis Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville.
He was born April 19, 1923, in Anderson County, to Dewey Jessie and Clara Elizabeth Honea Bernard.
He served during World War II in the Army, and was a retired civil service employee.
Mr. Bernard was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Bernard, on Oct. 8, 1987.
He is survived by a daughter, Helena Moosbauer of Germany; sisters, Mavis Poole of Jacksonville, and Virginia Grimsley of Phoenix; and three grandchildren.
