Harry Newton Grim was born on Dec 26, 1872 in McLean County, IL to Henry Grim and Calista Jane (Dawson) Grim. In 1880 the family was living in Gibson, Ford County, IL. In 1900 the family lived in Drummer, Ford County, IL. By 1906 Harry had moved to Des Moines, IA as he married Mary Elvetta (Etta) Thomas in Des Moines on Dec 31, 1906. Etta was also from McLean County, IL. Harry and Etta had one Child, Dawson Estes Grim who was born Jan 2, 1909. Harry was an optomitrist and started a practice in Cedar Rapids, IA. Harry, Etta and Dawson lived in Cedar Rapids by the 1910 census. Harry and son Dawson were both eye doctors and Etta worked in the practice as well. Etta died in 1932. Harry lived until July 24, 1957. Harry and Etta are buried together in The Murdock-Linwood Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, IA.
