The name on the tombstone is L. W. Snast Company H, 19th Louisiana Infantry.

Several people were involved in trying to determine who this soldier was including, Tom Wise, Clay Lord, Dennis Brooke and George Martin.

He also has a Cenotaph/In Memory Of Stone at Find A Grave Memorial# 27467291.

Lewis W. Smart's Compiled Military Service Records stated he died in in Columbus, Georgia and was a member of 3rd Company K of the 19th Louisiana Infantry. However upon looking further 3rd Company K had also been known as 2nd Company H.

Lewis is the son of Nathan Perkins Smart (b.5 March 1805 in Liberty County, Georgia or Marion County, Mississippi) and Louisa Jane Tynes (b.7 October 1808 in Liberty County, Georgia).

He married Julia Ann Barnett (b.18 May 1828 in Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana) and from this union had the following known children: Madison West "Matt" Smart b.23 July 1854 in Rapides Parish, Louisiana & Julia Ellen Smart b.4 June 1861 in Anacoco, Vernon, Louisiana.
