William C. “Billy” Bennett, age 89, of Henderson, KY, passed away at 7:15pm, Friday, December 11, 2015, at Cyprus Grove Rehabilitation Center in Newburgh, IN.
Billy was a veteran of the United Stated Navy who served in WWII. After his service to our country, he worked at Servel making P51 fighter planes. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. Billy retired from Crestline Plastics, but was a lifelong farmer first and foremost. He was a founding member and the original fire chief at the Zion Volunteer Fire Department. Billy was a member of Zion Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, M.C. and Bet Bennett, Billy was preceded in death by his brother, George Fielding Bennett, his sister and brother in law, Snookie and Delmer Brown, and his son in law, Jim Puckett.
Survivors include:
4 Sons: 1 Daughter:A, 12 Grandchildren, 17 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandchild
Relatives and friends are invited to Billy’s Life Celebration from 4:00 until service time on Friday, December 18th at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home. The memorial service will be held at 6:00pm with brother Bryan Bennett officiating. Private family burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Henderson, KY. Military honors will be rendered by the American Legion Worsham Post #40.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorial contributions to Zion Volunteer Fire Department www.zionfd.henderson.net and/or The Wounded Warriors Fund www.support.woundedwarriorproject.org
