Services for Shirley Jean Lunsford will be Tuesday 10:00 AM, May 28, 2013 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Robert Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Homer Cemetery near Milano. Visitation will be Monday 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Shirley was born January 10, 1932 in Burleson County, Texas and was the daughter of Mac Cam Segler and Allyne (Mauldin) Segler. She was raised in Galveston and graduated from Ball High School. She worked for Texas Instruments in Houston and later became a Rancher. She was an outdoor person and enjoyed her ranch, gardening, flowers, quilting, fishing, square dancing and her dog Tiffany. She was truly beloved by her family and friends and she loved her children and grandchildren.
Shirley was raised in the Baptist Church and was a charter member of Garden Road Baptist Church in Pearland. She and Richard Guy Lunsford, Jr. were married March 18, 1949 in Galveston, Texas and to this union four children were born.
Shirley passed away on Friday, May 24, 2013 at St. Joseph Hospice in Bryan, Texas. She reached the age of 81 years, 4 months and 14 days. She is preceded in death by her husband Richard Guy Lunsford on September 27, 2005. Sisters; Joyce Lange and Louise Segler.
Surviving are a son; Richard Lunsford and wife Cindy of Manuel. Daughters; Wanda Joyce Steiger and husband Bob of Pearland, Rebecca Lynn Youngman of Houston, Phyllis Renee Johnson and husband Robert of Rockdale. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons, Doug Talbott, Paul Talbott, Brandon Webb, Nicholas Webb, Garrett Steiger, Blake Kimball, Brian Sparks, Jason Lunsford, and Rick Lunsford, IV
