PITTSFIELD - Mrs. Mary Josephine Burns Linnehan, 91, of 10 Hamlin Street died Thursday afternoon at her home.
She was born in Lee on October 31, 1898, the daughter of Patrick J. and Bertha Bourguard Navin, and was educated there before coming to Pittsfield as a young woman. During World War II, she was employed at GE. She later was employed as a clerk at the former J. F. Kaahl Jewelry Store on North Street.
A communicant of St. Joseph's church, she was member of its parish council and Rosary Sodality as well as the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and Court Bishop Conaty. She was a city of Pittsfield ward captain for many years.
Her first husband, Jay T. Burns, died in 1943. Her second husband, John J. Linnehan died June 18, 1978.
She leaves a sister, Miss Bertha M. Navin, with whom she made her home. On the death of her daughter, Mrs. Mary Drury, in 1967, she adopted and raised her four grandchildren, Miss Jean M. Drury, also of 10 Hamlin Street, William J. Drury and Jay T. Drury both of Pittsfield, and Robert J. Drury of St. Louis, Missouri. She also leaves four great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Monday at 9:45 from Devanny-Condron Funeral Home with a Litury of Christian Burial at 10:30 at St. Joseph's Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Joseph's Church Improvement Fund in care of the funeral home
