Franklin Dwight Jones, 74, of Idaho Falls, died March 9, 2007, at his home of thyroid cancer. He was under the care of Aspen Home Health and Hospice.

He was born November 15, 1932, in Stockton, Kansas, to Dwight Paul Jones and Cecile (Ramsey) Jones. He grew up and attended schools in Stockton and Minneola, Kansas. He worked doing custom grain combining, logging, farming, and running cattle.

He joined the U.S. Army in August 1954 and was discharged in 1956.

He married Dee Ratliff; they divorced.

On July 6, 1989, he married Marlene (Kremer) Avery Jones in Rigby. Franklin was an avid sportsman who loved fishing, hunting, and snowmobiling.

Survivors include his wife, Marlene of Idaho Falls; children, Angela Jones and Karin (John) Shepard, both of Idaho Falls, Dennis Paul (Cindy) Jones of Montrose, Colo., Kevin Avery of Rock Springs, Wyoming, and Vance (Rhonda) Avery of Rigby; siblings, Linda (Byron) Gaede of Berthoud, Colorado, Dwayne (Joan) Jones of Bulverde, Texas, and Jerold (Linnette) Jones of Minneola, Kansas; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, David Jones; and sister, Eva McBee.
