Mrs. Vera Quinn Barfield, age 98, of 164 Pineland Ave., Union, widow of Clayton Barfield, passed away Thursday, December 10, 2015 at her home.
Mrs. Barfield was born in Cherokee Springs, SC on April 11, 1917 a daughter of the late Claude Wofford Quinn and Ollie Kimbrell Quinn. She attended Cross Anchor Schools and was the owner and operator of Cedar Hill Beauty Shop for many years. Mrs. Barfield was the oldest member of Lower Fairforest Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for 55 years.
Surviving are a sister, Myrtle Q. Pruitt of the home, several stepchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by seven sisters, Inez Burgess, Jeanette Whelchel, Stella Ellison, Marie Heatherly, Ruth Seay, and Alma Jean Smith and two brothers, D.L Quinn and C.A. Quinn.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, December 13, 2015 at Lower Fairforest Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Jim Cunningham and Rev. Shannon Faulkner. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Jonathan Johnson, Lynn Johnson, Wofford Quinn, Wade Lainer, Ronald Heatherly, and Pete Cochran. The following are asked to sit in a group, Senior Ladies Adult Sunday School Class of Lower Fairforest Baptist Church, James and Sara Inabinant, and the Nurses and Staff of Blue Ridge Hospice.
Visitation will be held 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM Sunday prior to the services at the Church.
Memorials may be made to Lower Fairforest Baptist Church 125 Lower Fairforest Church Rd., Union, SC 29379 or to Blue Ridge Hospice, 103 B South Boyce Street, Union, SC 29379.
