Jacheta "Keta" Nichols Porter, 60, of McLoud, Oklahoma passed away Friday, December 27, 2013 at her home. She was born August 13, 1953 to Jack and Janet Whited Nichols in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

Keta was raised in the Bethel Acres area and Winslow, Arizona. She was a graduate of Bethel High School. Keta lived in Arizona for several years before moving back to Oklahoma where she has lived for the past 30 years.

She loved fighting fires and was a fireman for 25 years in the Bethel Acres and Pink communities. Keta served as Fire Chief for both fire departments for many years. She designed the town seal for both Bethel Acres and Pink communities which are still used today. The joy of her life was Sabastian Hudgins, her only grandson.

Keta was preceded in death by her son, Jack Davis Sawyer; daughter, Nicolette Renee Blevins; father, Jack Nichols and brother, Jay Eugene Nichols.

Those left to cherish her memory are her mother, Janet Whited Nichols of Bethel Acres; daughter and son-in-law, Bobbi Diane and Mike Lane of Meeker; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Beth and Jody White of Bethel Acres and Elva and Dick Roets of Wichita, Kansas and Paula NiBride of Pink, Oklahoma; brother and sister-in-law, Phil and Chrissy Nichols of Longview, Texas; grandson, Sabastian Hudgins, special friend and partner, Ken Danielson and many friends and extended family.

Visitation will begin 12:00 noon, Thursday, January 2, 2014 and continue through service time. Service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 3, 2014 at Bethel United Methodist Church with Reverend Chris Talley officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
