Mr. Joe Willie Simmons was born January 31, 1932 in Henderson, Texas to the marriage of George Noble and Mittie Irene Gary Simmons. He was raised and schooled in Laneville, Texas. He served his country through the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. Joe married Norma Jean Welch Wright and together they celebrated 32 years of marriage. He was a carpenter by trade in cabinetry and enjoyed wood working for his family. He loved hunting, gardening and fishing, and was a member of the Henderson Freewill Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, and brother, George Simmons.
