Killed on Hayride
The chaperon of a hayride was killed, a tractor driver was hurt and 50 teenagers escaped injury when the tractor went out of control and overturned north of nearby Lithopolis.

Loren Mason, 52, a former city councilman of suburban Whitehall, died in Grant Hospital of chest and internal injuries suffered when he apparently was run over by one or two of two flat wagons being pulled by the tractor.

Glen Rieff, 53, of Canal Winchester, was injured when thrown from the tractor and is in fair condition in the hospital.

The hayride had been sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
