Christopher Jason Adams

ELM GROVE, LA - Chris was born December 16th, 1969, in Abilene, TX and was one of six children. Chris went home to be with our Lord and Savior on December 8, 2015 after a long and courageous battle with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Chris is preceded in death by his parents Ronnie Lee Adams and Sydney Matthews Adams, his sister Stephanie "Kaye" Adams, and his beloved Blue Heeler Bandit.

Chris is survived by his wife of eighteen years Teresa Adams, his three children Casey Lee-Orozco, Cristina Moody, and Cody "Bear" Moody. Step children Darrell Poirier and Christin Poirier. Grandchildren Caedan Poirier and Liam Orozco. Stepmother Susan Adams, sisters Rhonda Lynn Milano, Sommer Adams Graham and husband Marshall, Shannon Adams Walls and husband Chad; Brother Daryl Adams and wife Regina along with numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Chris served honorably in the United States Army for twenty years before retiring in 2010. Early in his career Chris accomplished his goal of becoming an Airborne Ranger and achieved the rank Sergeant First Class E-7. Along with numerous Airborne Ranger missions, Chris courageously served two overseas tours in Afghanistan and Iraq as a scout sniper platoon sergeant. Chris believed that serving his country admirably as his father did in Vietnam was one of his proudest accomplishments. While serving, Chris received the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (6th Award), Army Achievement Award (4th Award), Army Superior Unit Award, Army Good Conduct Medal (6th Award), National Defense Service Medal (2nd Award), Afghanistan Campaign Medal with two campaign stars, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with campaign star, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (3rd Award), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (3rd Award), Combat Infantryman Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, Ranger Tab, Senior Parachutist Badge, Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, and was awarded the Order of Saint Maurice.

Known for his love for his family and friends, Chris would give the shirt off his back to anyone who asked for it. Anytime his family and friends asked for help, Chris would be the first person to volunteer and expect nothing in return. Chris held a special place in his heart for animals, of which he had many. His hobbies included leather work, ferrier work, playing the guitar, welding, fixing anything that was broken, tending his land, and working on and riding his Victory motorcycle. Quite the storyteller, Chris had a knack and love for entertaining his family and friends. His favorite thing to do at family functions was razz his sister-in-law Regina. Chris was rebellious in nature, loved ruffling feathers, was extremely opinionated, and was never one to sugar coat his words. If you were a family member or privileged to be his friend, you knew Chris had a huge heart and truly loved you.

The following is to honor Christopher Jason Adams. The memorial service will be held at Centuries Memorial, 8801 Mansfield Road, in Shreveport, Louisiana on Friday December 11th at 2:00 p.m.. The internment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial in Haughton, Louisiana.
