Martha was born September 9, 1914, in Ankeny, the daughter of Alonzo Clarence and Katie Elnora Morr Adamson. She was raised in Ankeny and was a graduate of Ankeny High School. She earned a B.S. Degree in Education at Drake University and later furthered her education at University of Northern Iowa.
She taught school in Mitchellville and Manilla prior to moving to Grinnell in 1938. She taught in the Grinnell-Newburg School District for 20 years and retired in 1976. She was a resident of the Mayflower Community in Grinnell for many years and moved to Bickford Cottage in 2011.
On April 15, 1938, she was united in marriage with Paul Vogt in Unionville, Missouri.
Martha was a member of the Grinnell United Methodist Church and several organizations including; P.E.O, T.T.T., Tuesday Club, Delta Kappa Gamma and Poweshiek Retired Teachers Association.
Martha was an avid traveler and her adventures took her to six continents (excluding Antarctica) and she enjoyed many Iowa winters in Texas, Florida and Arizona. She enjoyed reading, writing and giving presentations about her travels to local clubs. She loved playing bridge and other card games, gardening and watching NBA basketball.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul (1968); two daughters, Katherine Ann Brock (2007) and Janet Richmond (1969); and two brothers, Dave and Edward Adamson.
