Carl E. Pierce, 88, of Hope, passed away at 2:54 a.m. Monday, December 7, 2015, at VA Northern Indiana Health Care System in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Carl was owner of C&A Radiator Service in Hope and retired as a laborer at Cummins Engine Company, Plant 1. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force. He was a Quaker and a member of the Fall Creek Friends Meeting House in Pendleton, Indiana. He was also a member of Masonic Lodge No. 412 in Hayden, Indiana.

Carl enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting and working at the radiator shop. He also really enjoyed talking with people.

A private family viewing is planned and cremation will follow. Burial of the cremated remains will be at Hope Moravian Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be donated to Veterans Affairs.

Born June 23, 1927, in Westport, Indiana, Carl was the son of Clarence A. and Elsie Ward Pierce. He married Eileen F. Kamke November 4, 1947, in Indianapolis, and she survives.

Other survivors include grandchildren, Sonya P. (Tony) Yates of Seymour, Beth Ann (Shawn) Snyder of Ogilville, Angela (Craig) Whittington and Matthew N. (Ashly Chinn) Pierce, both of Hope; six great-grandchildren, with one on the way; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Allen F. Pierce and Kevin N. Pierce; sister, Ethel Watkins; brother, Andrew E. Pierce; and sister, Mary Alice Griner.
