I believe this memorial is in the cemetery in error.

I have found a memorial for him and his wife Hannah in the Red Cloud, Nebr Cemetery. His memorial #57680533 and hers is #192235540.

The information listed below was from the creator of the memorial.

GEORGE WASHINGTON SAUNDERS

George was the son of Susannah "Susan" (Taylor) and John Forrest Saunders(sometimes spelled Sanders). George was born in Virginia in 1828. In the early 1830's his family migrated to Mercer County IL along with the Commons and Beard families.

His siblings included; Delilah (Saunders) Commons, Mary Elizabeth (Saunders) Jackson, Mahlon, John, William A, and Jesse Saunders. His brother Mahlon married Hannah Commons, sister of Delilah's husband Enos.

On July 11, 1847 he married Hannah Amanda Ann Davison, sometimes known as Amanda. She was the daughter of Elizabeth Ann (Moss) and Moses Davison. They were married in Indiana where they spent the first part of their marriage together.

George and Hannah Amanda Saunders were the parents of Leroy, Samuel, Orlando all born in Indiana and Mary Melissa, William, Georgia, Miller, Thaddeus Ulysses and Nellie Mae all born in Mercer County, IL.

For most of their married lives George and Amanda lived in the New Boston - Mannon area where they engaged in farming. They spent a short time in Kansas about 1880. They could have possibly followed the great "Prouty Wagon Train" when several Mercer County families left this area and relocated in Kansas. In the 1900 census they are living in Red Cloud, Webster County, Nebraska. Their daughter Josephine died in Red Cloud just a year later. In 1905 Amanda passed away in Red Cloud and George followed her in death just five years later.

Although they both died in Nebraska, I found no cemetery record for then there I did find a record for them in Mercer County in the Mannon Cemetery. It just says G.W. & H.A. SANDERS. So they must have been brought back to Illinois to be buried in the same cemetery as George's parents. There is also a GEORFE A SANDERS listed on the same page as G.W. & H.A. SANDERS. This could be their daughter Georgia A. who died at the age of 2 when they were living in New Boston Township.
