Sarah Elizabeth "Bessie" Fairholm was born on July 30, 1879, in Penn County, Iowa. She first married Royal F "Roy" Freeze, son of James and Matilda (Everall) Freeze, on 13 Sep 1900 in Guthrie County, Iowa and they had one son together, William Fairholm Freeze. Roy died sometime between 1907 and 1910 when Bessie is enumerated as a widow. She married Lloyd Warren Lenocker sometime between 1910 and 1915 when she is enumerated with him in the Iowa State Census living in Dexter, Dallas, Iowa. Lloyd died in 1915. Bessie then married Gardiner Decatur Matthewson in September 1933. She died on October 27, 1945, in Des Moines, Iowa, at the age of 66, and was buried in Dexter, Iowa.

Former Dexter Resident Passed Away Last Saturday Night

Mrs. Bessie Lenocker Matthewson, 66 years old, of 17199 Forty Sixth St., Des Moines, died at her home Saturday evening after several weeks illness. She had been a resident of Des Moines 10 years, moving there from Dexter where she had lived practically all of her life.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Welch Funeral home in Dexter, conducted by the Methodist minister, Rev. J. Neal Clemmer.

Casket bearers were Ralph Garland, Harry Dunmire, Peter Jensen, W. D. Knight, Ben Cline and H. B. Cushman.

Mrs. Alma Mapes and Mrs. Gertrude Conrad sang two hymns "Ivory Palaces" and "In The Graden: accompanied by Mrs. Willard Hadley at the piano.

The flower lades were Mrs. Roy Evans and Mrs. J. C. Adkins.

Burial was in the Dexter Cemetery.

Bessie Elizabeth Fairholm, daughter of William and Elzabeth Jamison Fairholm, was born in Penn Township near Dexter, Iowa on July 30, 1879, and passed away at her home in Des Moines Saturday evening, October 27, after a lingering illness, at the age of 66 years, 2 months and 27 days. She attended the public and Normal schools in Dexter and later taught in the public schools of the county. She was a charter member of Fidelity Camp No. 5941 order of Royal Neighbors.

She was united in Marriage to Roy (Royal) Freeze at the home of her parents September 13, 1900 and while living at Rockwell City a son was born to this union.

In September 1933 she was united in marriage to Dick Mathewson. They have made their home in Des Moines since their marriage.

She has been in failing health for a number o years but never complained and the seriousness of her condition was not fully known until the past six weeks. She knew the time of her going home was near, and gave full assurance that she was ready. She made all the arrangements and the details of her funeral were carried out according to her wishes. She is preceeded in death by her father, her mother, on e brother, Garret Fairholm, and a sister, Ora Belva.

She is survived by her husband and son, William F. Freeze of Woodward, Iowa; two-grandchildren, Mrs. George Thomas and Billie Bernice Freeze of Des Moines; three sisters, Mrs. Ina Jarnagin, Mrs. Bertha Williams, who cared for her during her recent illness, and Elfie Mount all of Dexter; together with many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
