Mrs. Elizabeth Chamblee Foster went home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 31, 2006.

Mrs. Foster was born in Durham on June 28, 1922, the daughter of the late Walter and Mary Chamblee and the youngest of 13 children. She was the widow of Monroe Foster.

She came to know her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at the age of eight and served him all of her life as a Sunday School Teacher, Youth Leader, and Witness for Christ. She was retired from the Department of International and Canadian Studies at Duke University and was a member of Northgate Chapel.

Mrs. Foster is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, George and Dorothy Moore of Durham; a brother, Ernest Chamblee of Arlington, TX; a daughter, Mary Beth Paris of Wilmington, DE; two sons, Steven and Valerie Foster of Bobingen, Germany, and Brian Foster of Fort Lawn, SC; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
