Julius C. Jester

Julius C. Jester, for the past thirty-five years employed at the Lafayette Lumber Company, died Saturday night at 7 o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Mary Collins,1423 Elizabeth Street. His death was caused by cancer of the liver. Mr. Jester was born in this county on June 21, 1861, and with the exception of five years spent in White county, resided here all his life. In 1877 he was married to Miss Caroline Yost, to which union ten children were born, five of whom are living: Louis Jester, of Ellsworth, Kan.; George, of Rock Island, Ill.; Mrs. Mary Collins, Mrs. Minnie Chapman and William Jester, all of this city; also surviving are four grandchildren, Lucie and Glyndon Collins and Naomi Chapman, of this city, and Gladys Chapman Seebohm, of Cincinnati, O. Mr. Jester also leaves a sister, Emma Jester, of Hot Springs, Ark., and three brothers, S.D. Jester, of Hemp Wallace, Ark.; Lee R. Jester, of St. Louis, Mo.; and L. N. Jester, of this city. The body was removed to the Frank & Son parlors and later was taken to the home of his daughter, Mrs. Mary Collins, 1423 Elizabeth Street, from where the funeral will be held tomorrow morning, Rev. L. L. Shaffer officiating. Interment will be made in the Petit cemetery. Friends may view the body this evening and tomorrow morning up to the hour of the funeral. He was a member of the Baptist church at Hebron. At the funeral services, Miss Juanita McCabe will sing. Three sons, two brothers and a nephew of the deceased will act as pall bearers.
