Civil War: Company I, 30th Indiana Infantry
James W. Jeffries (sic, Jefferies) enlisted as a private on September 18, 1862, and was mustered into Company I, 30th Indiana Infantry, later that same day. Private Jefferies died of disease at Bowling Green, Kentucky, on December 3, 1863, and he was buried the following day. After the war his remains were transferred to the Nashville National Cemetery.
