OBITUARY NEWSPAPER AND DATE UNKNOWN
"C. Harry Porter, oldest Hampton resident who died at the Lutheran hospital Tuesday after an illness of 10 days, were held at the Fox funeral home Thursday. The Rev. H. Lee Jacobs, pastor of the Congregational church, was in charge of the services.

Mr. Porter was born Sept. 7, 1844, at Henderson, N. Y.; and when 5 years of age moved with his parents, John Ossian and Emily Wilkinson Porter to Iowa to the present site of Ossian. This town was named for his father and is located on part of the Porter homestead.

In 1861 he came to Hampton where he was employed as a carpenter and engineer. He was engineer at the city water plant 20 years. In 1871 he was married at Girard, Kansas to Amanda Huntsinger. He was for several years a member of the Woodman lodge.

Surviving are one daughter, Miss Cora Porter, Hampton; one son, Harry H. of Milwaukee, Wis.; one sister Mrs. R. S. Benson, Carlsbad, N. Mex.; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Besides the children listed below, C. Harry and Emily Porter had two more children. Inez (female) was born about 1843 in NY and Fingal/Fingles/Fin was born about 1857 in IA.
